Effective Follow-Up Techniques to Keep Your Company Top of Mind

You’ve likely heard the expression “follow-through is everything.” In the business world, that’s true, too, with one adjustment; follow-through and follow-up are everything. No matter how many people you attract to your business, they won’t convert into customers if you don’t keep in touch and engage them. Here are three helpful follow-up techniques to keep you top of mind.

1) Make time and a follow-up schedule.

Having a follow-up schedule provides you with the framework needed to implement your follow-up with consistency, and consistency is key. You don’t need to send an email every day, but having a clear, focused way to communicate with your audience regularly will keep your business top of mind.

2) Provide valuable content.

How many emails have you deleted without opening? If you’re like the average consumer, the answer is in the hundreds per month. The content you provide to your audience needs to be valuable. If it’s not, they move on to something else. Does your audience value blog posts about pet health? Write it. Do they want to know the fashion trends for Fall/Winter 2021? Give them what they want. Be the trusted resource your audience needs to be ahead of the curve.

3) Make it easy for your consumers to find, hear from, and engage with you.

Meet people where they are. If your customers are phone people, follow up with a phone call. 82% of the population of the United States is on social media; find the best channels to engage with your consumers and post there. And anyone with an email address can (and should!) be sent emails to communicate.

Follow-up that keeps your business top of mind is an art, and it takes time, strategy, and a will to serve customers better to master it.
